Polls in states with major elections will close on Tuesday across a three-hour period nationwide, beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern time in Kentucky and ending at 9 p.m. Eastern time in Colorado, New York and parts of Texas.

Here is an overview of when the first polls for local and statewide elections will close in certain states, using Eastern time:

Connecticut, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and parts of Texas in the Central time zone.
