Donald Trump's doctor said the oldest man elected president is “fit” to serve as commander in chief, as the White House released the results of his physical examination on Friday.

Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella cited what he called Mr. Trump’s “active lifestyle,” which “continues to make significant contributions” to the Republican president’s well-being. He turns 79 on June 14.

In a report released on Sunday, the doctor briefly said Mr Trump was “fully fit to serve as commander in chief and head of state.”

The results showed Mr Trump had lost weight since his last medical check as president in 2020, when he weighed 17 stone four pounds and now weighs 16 stone.

The examination summary noted that Mr. Trump had previously had cataract surgery on both eyes, but the report did not provide a date or dates. A common procedure among older people, the surgery typically involves removing the cloudy lens of the eye and replacing it with an artificial lens to help clear vision.

According to the report, Mr Trump had a colonoscopy in July 2024, which found a benign polyp and a condition called diverticulosis. This is a common condition in which the intestinal wall weakens with age. It can lead to inflammation, although most people with it never experience any problems.

Mr Barbabella wrote that Mr Trump was in “excellent health” with “robust” cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and general physical function.

The doctor said his days included attending numerous meetings, public appearances and “frequent victories in golf competitions.” Mr. Trump is an avid golfer who said he recently won tournaments played at clubs he owns in Florida

His cholesterol levels improved over time thanks to the drugs rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.

At the checkup in January 2018, the total cholesterol level was 223. At the beginning of 2019, the indicator was 196, and in 2020 it was 167. Today it is 140. Ideally, the total cholesterol level should be less than 200.

His blood pressure was 128 over 74. This is considered elevated, and people in this situation can develop high blood pressure if steps are not taken to control the condition.

His resting heart rate is 62 beats per minute, which is consistent with previous tests. A normal resting heart rate for adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, and generally a lower heart rate indicates better cardiovascular fitness.

Mr Trump also takes aspirin, which can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.
