
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire from midnight to resolve deadly border clashes.
Mr Anwar, who chaired the talks as head of the ASEAN regional bloc, said both sides had reached a common understanding on measures to return to normal life.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Vechayachai agreed to “an immediate and unconditional ceasefire effective from… midnight on July 28,” Mr Anwar said, reading out a joint statement.

Mr. Khun Manet and Mr. Pumtham welcomed the outcome of the meeting and shook hands at the end of the short press conference.
