The United States is committed to protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and will not allow it to be taken over by Russia. Washington will continue to work towards achieving peace while maintaining alignment with Kyiv.
As Delo.ua reports, this was reported by Ukrinform, citing a statement by US Vice President J.D. Vance.
The US will not allow Russia to take over Ukraine
US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the United States will continue to work towards achieving peace and stands for the protection of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
He noted that the positions of Washington and Kyiv on this issue largely coincide, although there are some differences. According to Vance, the US will not allow the capture of all of Ukraine by Russia.
The politician also emphasized that the war has reached a dead end, as the Russian side is no longer achieving any results by continuing hostilities, and everything possible must be done to stop the bloodshed.
“It would be best for everyone, including the United States, to stop the killings and bring this situation to a peaceful resolution,” the vice president said.
Peace negotiations
August 18 a meeting took place President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with US President Donald Trump and European leaders.
Trump said after talks with Zelensky that the parties were close to adopting a resolution on security guarantees for Ukraine. Preparations have also begun for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
And on August 16, Trump and Putin met in Alaska, during which they discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine. Following the talks, Trump said that he and Putin had “largely” agreed on a territory swap and possible security guarantees from the United States, and the final decision now depends on Kyiv.
