“The capital needs for the next 20-25 years to transform energy and digital systems are very large, and there are only about five competitors that are as significant and large as us, so we don't see any obstacles to making deals,” Lennart Blecher, head of real assets, said in an interview.

“The energy transition is the strongest business trend since the beginning of industrialization,” he said, adding that about $275 trillion in capital will be needed over the next 25 years.

EQT Infrastructure VI, which targeted €20 billion, has reached its hard cap. It includes €21.3 billion in fee-generating assets under management.

EQT, which manages €75 billion in global infrastructure assets, has been raising money for its latest fund since 2022 and has already closed 10 investments.

This includes the purchase of Constellation Cold Logistics from Arcus Infra Partners in 2024, the privatization of Swedish wind farm developer OX2 AB for $1.5 billion earlier that year, and the acquisition of US solar company Madison Energy Investments in 2022.

The fund will invest in digital infrastructure, as well as in assets that generate, store and distribute energy. It will also focus on investments related to the decarbonization and electrification of industrial processes and social infrastructure, among other areas.
