The US President, Donald Trump, stated that he engaged in a “terrific telephone conversation” with the President of China, Xi Jinping . The heads of state also deliberated on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Trump mentioned on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“It was an extensive and detailed discussion, during which we touched upon numerous significant subjects, encompassing commerce, matters of defense, my prospective journey to China in April (which I eagerly anticipate!), Taiwan, the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, the existing circumstances with Iran, China’s acquisition of petroleum and natural gas from the United States, China’s consideration of potentially procuring additional agricultural commodities, including boosting the soybean quantity to 20 million tons for the ongoing season (they have pledged to secure 25 million tons in the upcoming season!), provisions of aircraft engines, alongside a multitude of other themes, all of which proved highly encouraging,” Trump conveyed.
He further noted that the United States’ connection with China, alongside his individual bond with President Xi, are “exceptionally favorable,” with both leaders comprehending the necessity of sustaining them in such a state.
“I anticipate that within the ensuing three years of my leadership, numerous advantageous outcomes will be realized concerning President Xi and the People’s Republic of China,” the US President underscored.
The conversation between Xi and Trump transpired not long after the Chinese President communicated with the leader of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin. During this exchange, Xi advocated for a “substantial strategy” aimed at fostering the advancement of reciprocal ties and extended an invitation to Putin to visit China.
Ukraine and the European nations have voiced criticism towards Beijing for lending support to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. China persistently refutes claims of aiding Russia, asserting its non-involvement in the situation.
