The President of the United States, Donald Trump, revealed details from his call with the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. He mentioned that Putin desires to provide assistance in the Middle East, but could offer greater support if he brought an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
In general, Trump characterized his dialogue with the head of the Kremlin as “very positive.”
“We touched upon Ukraine – which is essentially a never-ending conflict. There is considerable animosity between President Putin and President Zelensky. It appears that they are unable to reach a consensus,” expressed the American president.
Concurrently, Trump indicated that the circumstances in the Middle East were also a topic of discussion during the exchange.
“We spoke about the Middle East, naturally. He intends to be of assistance. I conveyed to him: you would be considerably more helpful if you concluded the war between Russia and Ukraine. That would be more beneficial,” the American leader highlighted.
According to Trump, despite the challenging nature of the situation, he views the conversations with Putin as favorable.
“We enjoyed a very productive conversation, and he has the desire to act in a very constructive manner,” the US president added.
Yuri Ushakov, an advisor to the Russian president, also stated that the parties talked about the situation concerning Iran and potential discussions to resolve Russia’s war against Ukraine during their phone conversation.
The previous day, Trump commented on potential backing from Russia for Iran. Speaking to journalists while onboard Air Force One, he emphasized that if the Russians are providing assistance, they are doing a poor job.
Following his discussion with Putin, Donald Trump declared the removal of oil sanctions “from certain nations” to alleviate the fuel shortage resulting from the war between the US and Israel with Iran.
