There are a handful of contests on the ballot for statewide offices, including for governor, on the ballot in South Dakota today.

The deadline to register to vote in South Dakota has passed — it was May 23, according to the state’s election calendar. But if you’re heading to the polls today, here’s what to know:

Need to check if you are registered? You can do that here. The polls close at 7 p.m. local time.

The deadline for requesting absentee ballots was Monday. Use this site to track the status of your absentee ballot. Voters who are “confined due to sickness or disability” can use an authorized messenger to request an absentee ballot through 3 p.m. local time on Election Day.

Use this site to find polling locations near you. Absentee ballots must be returned to a county election official “on Election Day in enough time to deliver your ballot to your voting precinct before the polls close,” according to the state’s website.

There are a handful of contests on the ballot for statewide offices, including for governor, senator and the state’s only member of the House of Representative.

Voters will also decide whether to increase the level of support needed to pass most voter-initiated referendums to 60 percent from a majority. Read the ballot question here.
