William Stevenson, previously married to Jill Biden, has been accused of murdering his wife, as reported by The Telegraph.

Stevenson, aged 77, faces a first-degree murder charge following the conclusion of the inquiry into the demise of his wife, Linda Stevenson.

A 64-year-old woman was discovered deceased at her husband’s residence on the evening of December 28, after law enforcement responded to a domestic argument. It is understood that the couple had been married for approximately four decades. Officers made efforts to revive the woman, whose body was located in the living space, but were unsuccessful.

Last December, law enforcement officials communicated that Linda Stevenson’s remains had been submitted for a forensic examination to ascertain the reason and circumstances surrounding her passing.

The erstwhile First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, was wed to Stevenson for a five-year duration prior to their divorce in 1975.

Stevenson wed Jill Jacobs back in 1970 when she was an 18-year-old university student at the University of Delaware, and he was a 23-year-old entrepreneur.

Two years following the separation, she married Joe Biden, who at that time served as a senator representing Delaware.

Julie Pace, Jill Biden’s biographer, mentioned in a statement to People that at the period of her initial marriage, the future first lady was “very young” and “inexperienced,” and the marriage itself “did not live up to her expectations.”

During an interview in 2020 — shortly preceding Joe Biden’s election as president — Stevenson alleged that his former wife had engaged in an affair with the then-senator.

“I experienced betrayal by the Bidens,” he conveyed to Inside Edition. “Joe was a friend. Jill was my spouse.”

A spokesperson for Jill Biden subsequently dismissed these assertions as “fabrication,” emphasizing that she had officially separated from her first husband in the autumn of 1974, and the initial date between Jill and Joe Biden transpired in March 1975.

Stevenson also expressed that he would cast his ballot for Donald Trump, instead of Biden, during the 2020 presidential election.

As per news reports, Stevenson is a former collegiate football athlete and the founder of The Stone Balloon, a well-known tavern and musical establishment in close proximity to the University of Delaware.

He remains in custody in Wilmington, Delaware, having failed to provide the required $500,000 security for release.
