The United States has reportedly lost seven military planes during the five weeks of conflict with Iran, according to CNN.

On March 2, three American F-15 combat aircraft were downed by defense systems due to an accidental “friendly fire” event over Kuwait. All six personnel safely ejected, and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth subsequently stated that three pilots had gone back to combat operations to participate in attacks on Iran.

On March 12, a US KC-135 refuelling aircraft crashed in Iraq, resulting in the deaths of six US flight crew members. The US military indicated that the tanker was not shot down by enemy or friendly forces, but was instead involved in an incident with another plane during Operation Epic Fury. The second plane landed without incident, according to official reports.

On March 27, a U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry airborne early warning and control aircraft was wrecked on the runway in an Iranian strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. CNN stated that a minimum of 10 U.S. military personnel were wounded in the assault on the air base. A U.S. Air Force tanker aircraft also sustained damage, sources relayed.

On April 3, the US verified the downing of a US Air Force F-15 fighter and an A-10 ground-attack aircraft in separate events, bringing the confirmed total of aircraft destroyed in the war with Iran to seven.

Furthermore, last month, a US F-35 combat aircraft conducted an emergency landing at a US air base in the Middle East after being struck by what is suspected to be Iranian fire, two sources close to the situation informed CNN.

As Bloomberg detailed, the shooting down of the American aircraft and the prolonged search for the missing crew member have damaged the appearance of being unconquerable that Trump endeavored to cultivate against the backdrop of escalating political dangers five weeks prior, when he initiated the operation alongside Israel. He has frequently asserted total control over Iranian airspace and employed aggressive language, contending that the United States has already triumphed and that Iran's military capabilities have been annihilated, in an attempt to reassure markets and the American population, which is predominantly opposed to the conflict.
