The former Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, who is also Donald Trump’s contender in the 2024 elections, stated that the present American leader is steering the nation “into a conflict that the citizens of America do not desire.” She voiced her dissent against “regime alteration” in Iran, reports The Hill.
“I stand against military action aimed at altering the regime in Iran, and our armed forces are being endangered because of the conflict Trump has initiated,” she declared.
Harris described the attacks on Iran as “a perilous and needless undertaking.” She accused Trump of being untruthful, as he pledged in 2024 to “terminate conflicts, not commence them.”
Harris mentioned that she and her spouse, Doug Emhoff, will “offer prayers for all our courageous service members.” She further noted that they “are worthy of a Commander in Chief who confronts choices concerning warfare and tranquility with the identical fortitude and self-control that our troops exhibit daily.”
“Our opposition to the war Donald Trump has instigated is unequivocal, and Congress must employ every available measure to prevent us from being further embroiled in this dispute,” she asserted.
It is worth noting that in November, the US will conduct midterm elections that will establish the balance of power in Congress. The Hill conveyed that Republicans are apprehensive that the adverse public sentiment towards Trump’s strategies might trigger a surge of Democratic victories that could jeopardize the Republican dominance in Congress. Furthermore, it was indicated that Harris might once again become the Democratic nominee for president in 2028.
On the morning of February 28, Israeli and American forces carried out a sequence of assaults on Iran. Targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon were also engaged. In retaliation, Iran launched “numerous” ballistic missiles at Israel and struck American bases in Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar. On the night of March 1, Iran officially verified the demise of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as a consequence of the aerial bombardments.
