Kirill Dmitriev, the representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will not take part in the three-way discussions with Ukraine and the United States, which are scheduled for February 17-18 in Geneva. This information was disseminated by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, referencing an informed source.
“Dmitriev is committed to re-establishing ties between Russia and the United States and, as before, will not be included in the Russian delegation that will participate in the trilateral negotiations with Ukraine,” the source stated.
It is being reported that he is set to encounter US representatives soon in Geneva to go over matters regarding business and financial collaboration.
Earlier on Friday, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov revealed that talks concerning peace in Ukraine will continue on February 17-18. The Russian group in Geneva will be headed by presidential advisor Vladimir Medinsky. Previous sessions were overseen by Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
According to Dmitry Peskov, the Russian dictator’s spokesperson, this time Vladimir Medinsky, Putin’s advisor will be in charge of the Russian delegation, instead of Igor Kostyukov, the head of the GRU. Previous dialogues involving Russian military and intelligence officials were regarded as more productive, and Medinsky delivered “historical lectures” to the Ukrainian side during the discussions in Istanbul last year . To demonstrate the Russian’s intention to engage in a prolonged war, he referenced the Great Northern War , which persisted for 21 years in the 18th century. He also cited fabricated quotations from Napoleon Bonaparte and Otto von Bismarck, Reich Chancellor of the German Empire, and dismissed Ukraine’s request for the return of deported children as “a display for European pensioners.”
