A brief segment of body camera video showing the arrest of Ryan W. Routh, the suspect in the apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, was released on Monday by the sheriff’s office just to the north, in Martin County, Fla.

Officers with the sheriff’s office stopped the vehicle Mr. Routh was driving, a Nissan S.U.V., as he drove northbound on Interstate 95 around 2:14 p.m. on Sunday, according to a federal criminal complaint.

The video, less than a minute long, shows several law enforcement officers from the back, with their weapons drawn, shouting instructions for the driver to take two steps to his right and then to walk backward toward them. Mr. Routh, wearing sunglasses, long pants and a light pink T-shirt, is briefly seen walking backward with his arms in the air, holding the hem of his shirt over his head, before officers handcuff him and take him into custody.

According to the federal complaint, the stop occurred about 45 minutes after a Secret Service agent opened fire after seeing a rifle barrel poking through a tree line at Mr. Trump’s golf course. A witness who saw a man leave the area, enter a Nissan S.U.V. and quickly drive off was later brought to the scene of the stop and identified the person as Mr. Routh, the complaint said.

Mr. Routh was the only person in the vehicle, which bore a stolen license plate, the complaint said.
