Americans’ War Views: Disapproval of Trump’s Ukraine Strategy

Almost half of the American populace voices disapproval regarding President Donald Trump’s endeavors to settle the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, according to a survey conducted by The Economist/YouGov. As The Hill highlights, 49% of those polled expressed either “somewhat disapprove” or “strongly disapprove” sentiments concerning the manner in which the American president is “managing the situation involving Russia and Ukraine.”

Concurrently, 30% of Americans conveyed either “somewhat approve” or “strongly approve” opinions regarding Trump’s initiatives pertaining to the war in Ukraine. An additional 20% were unable to furnish a definitive response.

Participants were also surveyed to gauge their perspectives on which side holds an upper hand in the conflict. Consequently, 27% consider Russia to possess the advantage, 6% believe Ukraine does, while another 44% are of the opinion that neither faction has a leg up. Nearly a quarter (24%) were unable to offer an answer. The poll was carried out from December 26-29, with the participation of 1,550 individuals. The margin of error stands at 3.6 percentage points.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned that Trump deliberated all 20 points of the peace accord aimed at concluding the war in Ukraine with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Furthermore, according to the head of state, he communicated to Trump the significance of aligning words with deeds. After all, instances have occurred where Putin articulates one thing but acts differently.
