“A special feature of today's commission is the transfer of chairmanship from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus,” said Tatyana Moskalkova, as quoted by the TASS news agency.

She also introduced new commission members from Belarus – Evgeniya Paramonova and Irina Kostevich, noting her close cooperation with them.

During the meeting, participants from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan discussed a number of key issues.

The main focus was on two thematic reports: on the protection of the rights of youth and ensuring the right to a favorable environment.

In the first area, the experience of implementing youth policy in the CIS was reviewed, including the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation until 2030.

Secondly, the participants discussed environmental challenges that require joint efforts by the Commonwealth states.

During the event, First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Igor Petrishenko presented Tatyana Moskalkova with the highest award of the CIS Executive Committee – the Certificate of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth.

He noted her active work and significant personal contribution to the development of human rights cooperation in the CIS.

The transfer of the chairmanship of the commission is planned and reflects the practice of rotating leadership in the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
