Video hosting site YouTube has begun enforcing new age verification rules for users in CIS countries, including Belarus.
This information, as reported by a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti, was shared by the expert media outlet “Durova's Code ,” whose readers confirmed receiving the corresponding notifications on their accounts.
When attempting to view age-restricted videos, users are faced with the following request: “To view this video, please provide additional information so we can verify that you are an adult.”

YouTube offers three main methods for age verification: providing a scanned ID (passport or driver's license), taking a selfie, or entering bank card information.
The innovation is linked to tightening legislative requirements in a number of countries, including the UK and the European Union, which require internet platforms to conduct age verification of users.
Initially, such requirements were widely recorded in Western countries from the end of September, but now the system has reached users in the CIS.
According to YouTube's official documentation, the platform uses a special model to automatically estimate age, which analyzes user data, including viewing history and content preferences.
If the system identifies a user as a minor, protective measures are automatically activated in their account: access to age-restricted videos is blocked, personalized advertising is disabled, and digital well-being features are enabled.
