On May 4th, in Israel, at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time, a ballistic projectile initiated from Yemeni soil struck a zone close to Ben Gurion International Airport, triggering a blast in proximity to Terminal 3.

This is according to reports from Ynet.

This marks the initial substantiated occurrence of a missile discharged from Yemen reaching the central region of Israel. According to the Israel Defense Forces, a lone rocket evaded interception, landing in the space between the terminal and Kfar Chabad village.

Pinchas Idan, Chairman of the Directorate of the Israel Airports Authority, remarked:

“This took place in the area housing the bus and taxi ranks. A blast occurred, we witnessed a plume of dark smoke, and everything trembled. It's fortunate the projectile didn't strike the terminal proper or aircraft directly.”

According to vesty.co.il, the concussive force caused injuries to three individuals: a man around 50 years old and two women, ages 54 and 38. Their states are considered slight to moderate. A 64-year-old man sustained minor injuries from scattered fragments, and a 22-year-old woman encountered slight injuries while proceeding to shelter. A woman, approximately 34 years old, suffered minor injuries while heading to a safe zone at a service station by Highway No. 6. Two victims needed medical attention due to shock.

The IDF specified that in parallel with the airfield assault, the Houthis launched multiple additional missiles and drones; one was successfully shot down by the Strela-3 missile defense mechanism. Nevertheless, certain projectiles either bypassed aerial defenses or remained undetected owing to the complex trajectory.

Let us not forget that we previously reported that Netanyahu declared that Israel “has no alternative” but to prolong the struggle in Gaza.
