Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, has severely critiqued the actions of US President Donald Trump in the Middle East, likening him to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The British newspaper The Guardian reported this information, referencing a conversation between the British PM and ITV’s Robert Peston.

“I’m tired of the reality that households across the nation are seeing their energy costs fluctuating, and businesses are seeing their energy costs fluctuating, due to the actions of Putin or Trump globally,” stated Starmer.

Simultaneously, the British Prime Minister highlighted the urgency of stabilizing the situation in the Middle East and reinstating safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Starmer also mentioned on ITV that while the UK did not have “access to all the particulars of the truce agreement”, he disapproved of the assaults on Lebanon.

“Let me be clear: They are mistaken,” he asserted, in reference to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

The news source indicated that on Thursday, April 9, Starmer and Trump talked about the necessity of a “workable plan” to initiate shipping through the Strait of Hormuz after a ceasefire agreement is reached in the Middle East.

“The Prime Minister talked about his conversations with Gulf leaders and military strategists in the area concerning the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and about the UK’s attempts to assemble partners to agree upon a feasible plan,” The Guardian quotes the British government’s press service as saying.

As a reminder, the United Kingdom will conduct discussions with the involvement of 35 nations to establish a partnership that should guarantee the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after the cessation of hostilities .

It was previously announced that European nations have conveyed their readiness to safeguard the Strait of Hormuz from a blockade by Iran, but this comes with a significant precondition .
