The Turkish National Defense Ministry clarified the prerequisites under which the nation is prepared to dispatch soldiers to Ukraine as an element of a peacekeeping contingent.

The department's announcement states that Turkey stands ready to engage in any helpful endeavors aimed at securing a lasting cessation of hostilities in Russia’s conflict against Ukraine and is vigorously participating in the Coalition of Volunteers toward this aim.

“For Turkey to deploy forces to Ukraine within a peacekeeping framework, it is imperative that a ceasefire be established initially, followed by a precise delineation of the purpose and level of involvement from each nation,” the country’s Defense Ministry stated.

Furthermore, Turkey persists in spearheading military strategies focused on preserving security and steadiness in the Black Sea region and guaranteeing the safety of maritime traffic upon the achievement of a ceasefire.

“Adhering to the tenet of regional accountability, Turkey has abided by and will continue to abide by the Montreux Convention, which safeguards equilibrium in the Black Sea and holds substantial importance for the region’s security, in a meticulous, responsible, unbiased, and unwavering manner,” the ministry underscored.

As a reminder, Emmanuel Macron declared the formation of a coordination hub for the collaboration between the Ukrainian and coalition armed forces. Subsequent to the “Coalition of the Willing” meeting, Ukraine, France, and Great Britain formally executed a declaration concerning the placement of Western units on Ukrainian soil. The instrument contemplates the establishment of a multinational force to ensure security.
