Iran has consented to eliminate its greatly enriched uranium inventory as part of ongoing discussions with the United States aimed at achieving a peace accord.
CBS News conveyed this information, referencing a high-ranking official from the Trump administration.
Per his statements, the concluded agreement would encompass Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz in return for the US terminating its blockade of the same waterway, alongside US compromises on easing penalties should Iran concede on matters related to uranium enrichment.
He continued by saying that the final agreement regarding the particulars of the pact is currently being worked on, and he pointed out that Iran seems more disposed to compromise than it was before the commencement of the military action.
Nevertheless, the accord would not involve any change of government, according to the official, who also remarked that the Trump administration intends to engage with the existing Iranian governing body.
In light of this announcement, Donald Trump’s action took on significance, as he posted on his Truth Social platform Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s pledge that his nation is not aiming to procure atomic weaponry.

Meanwhile, the Iranian news outlet Tasnim reports that not every topic was settled during the talks, most notably concerning the return of Iran’s sequestered assets.
Consequently, the understanding could still be called off, with Iran stating it will not yield on its inviolable principles.
To reiterate, US President Donald Trump previously declared that any arrangement with Iran is contingent solely on his verdict, while asserting that Washington will not hasten the negotiations.
