Ending the Iran War – Details
The president purportedly dispatched the letter on May 1, the final date by which he was required to obtain congressional authorization to prolong the war. Because legislators did not interfere, the president essentially maintained the prerogative to direct the conflict single-handedly, even though he had initiated it two months before without congressional assent.
Notwithstanding the declaration that the active stage has concluded, the White House underscores that the risk level remains elevated. The letter emphasizes that the presence of US soldiers in the territory is vital to discourage dangers.
“Despite the success of United States operations against the Iranian regime and continued endeavors to secure a lasting peace, the peril that Iran presents to the United States and our military stays considerable,” Trump stated.
