The US President, Donald Trump, might command fresh military operations targeting Iran if it “acts inappropriately.”

Axios reports this.

As the United States and Iran exchange preliminary versions of an accord meant to conclude the conflict, Trump is seriously contemplating sanctioning additional military action directed at Iran with the objective of disrupting the existing deadlock.

“Should they conduct themselves improperly, should they execute something negative — but we shall observe. Naturally, that is a possibility,” Trump stated, upon being questioned about whether he may authorize further strikes.

Conflict in Iran — recent updates

Donald Trump is not expected to embrace Iran’s recent proposal for tranquility because Tehran purportedly paid “an insufficiently high cost,” the American leader voiced on his personal social platform, Truth Social, on Sunday, the 3rd of May.

“I shall promptly assess the strategy that Iran has recently forwarded to us. Nevertheless, I cannot foresee its acceptability. Implying that they (the Iranian governing bodies – ed.) have not yet atoned substantially enough for their actions against humanity and peace across the past 47 years,” Trump penned.

Simultaneously, Reuters chronicles that the novel 14-point Iranian blueprint encompasses demands for assurances against military incursion by the US and Israel, as well as the removal of American armed forces from zones bordering Iran.

Tehran pledges to enable unrestricted transit of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States must revoke the naval blockade.

Iran also posits that the Americans ought to acknowledge Tehran’s entitlement to a peaceful atomic program. And the nuclear predicament is advised to be deferred “for a later time.”

“Within this framework, talks on the more intricate nuclear subject have been transitioned to the concluding phase to cultivate a more propitious environment,” a high-ranking Iranian authority communicated, speaking anonymously.

It is worth recalling that on May 1, Trump briefed Congress that the engagement with Iran had “concluded.” Through this avenue, he endeavored to rationalize the omission of an appeal to legislators for authorization to prolong it beyond the 60-day duration of hostilities.
