A wedding celebration in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India, devolved into a significant altercation, and the planned event was halted due to an insufficiency of the customary sweet, rasgulla.

According to local news outlets, the dispute initially sparked between the relatives of the bride and groom: the bride’s attendees were incensed that the sweets at the tables were depleted too rapidly. The groom’s party interpreted this as an affront, and the response was immediate – the verbal disagreement turned into a physical clash.
In mere moments, the circumstance spiraled: surveillance footage revealed individuals hurling chairs, engaging in combat, and tearing at each other’s clothing.
Suresh Prasad, the bride’s father, conveyed that the disagreement was inescapable as tensions between the households had been mounting even preceding the event — supposedly over demands for extra bridal money.
“They commenced requesting more funds and then assaulted our kin. There are casualties, we informed the authorities,” he expressed.
Conversely, Mahendra Prasad, the groom’s father, asserts the opposite – the principal reason was the inadequacy of the sweet treat.
“It all transpired because of the rasgullas — there simply weren’t an adequate number of them. We didn’t request any bridal payments,” the man declared.
Post-altercation, the bride’s kin opted against proceeding with the nuptials. The newly intended spouses never exchanged their marital promises. Law enforcement corroborated that injuries occurred on both sides, and an inquiry is in progress.
The groom’s mother additionally avowed that during the affray, jewels presented to the bride were purloined from their family, and all the expenses for the feast were allegedly covered by their side.
Traditionally, a majority of the expenditures in Indian wedding ceremonies have been shouldered by the bride’s family, encompassing everything from the banquet to the marriage attire.
