A 13-year-old Indian boy passed away tragically following a poisonous snake’s attack. Instead of promptly getting medical assistance, his relatives opted to perform a ceremony and held the kid submerged in the Ganges River for a dozen hours.

Acting on the guidance of a “shaman,” a family submerged their 13-year-old son in the sanctified waters of the Ganges, trusting it would aid in rescuing his life after a snake bite.
The dead boy, identified as Amit, was a class 4 student residing in Pithampur village, Uttar Pradesh. The occurrence transpired last Thursday – subsequent to the child being bitten by a snake, he instantly notified his relatives about it. Nevertheless, in lieu of hurrying him to the hospital, the family consulted a local traditional healer.
As per media accounts, the “healer” suggested attaching the boy to bamboo sticks and keeping him underwater in the Ganges River so that the hallowed water would “heal” him of the venom.
Merely 12 hours afterward, when the child’s state worsened severely and the boy became unconscious, the relatives resolved to obtain medical care. However, by then it was already unfeasible to help – the boy perished. It is stated that even following that, family members attempted to cast his corpse into the Ganges, wishing for a wonder.
Dr. Shashank Chaudhary from the local polyclinic emphasized that physicians consistently conduct educational efforts within the populace and advise individuals not to hesitate in such scenarios. According to him, following a snake’s strike, every moment is critical, and solely prompt healthcare can salvage a life.
The boy’s preventable demise has ignited a reaction on social platforms, with users demanding the parents be deemed responsible for carelessness. It remains unknown if law enforcement intends to file charges in the matter.
