The Kosovo Police continued to carry out raids in Banjska, north Kosovo following the terrorist attack of 24 September, and on Tuesday, Serbia arrested Milan Radoičić, former vice-head of Serbian List admitted his involvement in leading the attack that killed one Kosovo police officer.
“On 3 October 2023, officers of the Criminal Police Directorate conducted a search of the residence and other premises of Milan Radoičić, who was placed under police custody for up to 48 hours,” the press release reads.
He was taken to the Higher Prosecution Office in Belgrade with a criminal indictment.
Before his arrest on 30 September, Radoičić, accompanied by his lawyer, made a statement about the tragic events in Banjska, where Serbs attacked Kosovo police, killing one officer, before barricading themselves in a monastery. Pristina called the event an attempt to take over the north of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, Kosovo police and KFOR continue to maintain security in the region with increased numbers while additional searches for weapons continue.
The border crossings at Jarinje and Brnjak have been closed for nine days. While it is possible to leave the territory of Kosovo it is not possible to enter. People, goods, medicines and even money cannot enter from Serbia, although as a part of Kosovo, there is no restriction on the movement of goods from others parts of the country.
The company responsible for transporting money cannot enter KiM, which means that salaries cannot be paid to employees. Banks are running out of money, Dejan Nedeljković, a political activist, told Euractiv. Kosovo banks that issue the de facto currency, euro, continue to operate as normal.
