The National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel will go ahead with plans to give notice of the seven-day strike to be staged at the end of January by cabin crew working for the national flag carrier TAP, the National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC) said in a note sent to members.
In the note presented by the chair of the union’s general assembly (GA), it was confirmed that the strike will last from 25-31 January based on a decision taken at the emergency general meeting on 6 December.
“I appeal, from now on, for everyone’s adherence so that, once again, we can make fully clear to the company … the discontent regarding the matters addressed and deliberated at the GA on 3 November, which constitute our legitimate claims,” the statement adds.
The union’s GA rejected the TAP management’s offer on 29 December, and resolved to stage a strike of at least five days by end-January, a union source told Lusa at the time.
The offer was rejected by 615 votes against, six in favour, and one abstention.
The same union staged a strike at TAP from 8-9 December that forced the airline to cancel 360 flights, at an estimated cost of €8 million.
