The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, declared the deployment of naval vessels to the Strait of Hormuz to reinstate maritime traffic, which Iran had obstructed following assaults by the US and Israel. He communicated this during a visit to Cyprus, Le Figaro and Le Parisien reported .
Macron stated that “a protection operation should be prepared in conjunction with European and non-European nations” to “accompany cargo vessels and tankers with the objective of progressively re-opening the Strait of Hormuz.”
He further noted that France would dispatch eight frigates, two helicopter carriers and an aircraft carrier to take part in the “defensive mission.”
“Such a significant commitment of our navy is unprecedented. Naturally, it goes hand in hand with the activation of our aerial and ground forces in the area. France endeavors to foster de-escalation, the well-being of our citizens, the well-being of our allies, as well as the freedom of transit and maritime safety,” declared the French president.
President of the United States, Donald Trump, has cautioned that the US Navy might soon commence escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz , through which over 20% of the world's petroleum is transported, if the need arises. He has directed the US Development Finance Corporation to supply assurances and fiscal guarantees for all nautical commerce in the Persian Gulf locale. This is presently most pertinent for petroleum tankers.
