Greek elections: What to expect?

Greek elections: What to expect? | INFBusiness.com

On this week’s episode of the Beyond the Byline podcast, EURACTIV looks at the upcoming parliamentary elections in Greece on Sunday (21 May).

Analysts believe that it could be those who are eligible to vote for the first time – 440,000 young people aged 17 to 21 – who could perhaps swing the election, tightly contested by the ruling New Democracy and the leftist Syriza opposition.

Their decision at the ballot box will be particularly important this time around, as this is the first Greek election to employ proportional representation. This new voting system might provide the smallest parties with an opportunity to take part in forming a coalition government.

So which parties and candidates are in the running, who is ahead in the polls, and what can we expect from these elections?
