As per a Politico report, the EU is probing potential breaches of regulations by past European Commissioner Peter Mandelson, whose name is found in the “Epstein files.” Allegations suggest he could have revealed beforehand a 500 billion euro rescue package intended to save the euro.
Even though the UK exited the EU six years prior, Mandelson is still obligated by the promises he undertook during his tenure as commissioner, spanning from 2004 to 2008.
Recently unveiled records hint that Mandelson, who held a position as a UK government minister in 2010, may have notified Epstein in advance about a €500 billion bailout aiming to stabilize the currency during the peak of the Greek debt predicament.

European finance ministers reached an agreement on the arrangement overnight amidst concerns that a meltdown in the Greek economy could spark a broader disturbance in the eurozone.
Based on documents disclosed in the US, Epstein, who functioned as a financier, had transmitted an email to Mandelson the day prior, stating: “Sources inform me that a €500 billion bailout initiative is nearly finalized.”
Mandelson responded: “It will be publicized this evening.” The Cabinet Minister then mentioned he would make a phone call directly after departing 10 Downing Street.
The British administration opted not to engage in the eurozone bailout, but participated in the discussions that laid the groundwork for the emergency solution, implying it should have been cognizant of the evolving circumstances.
On Tuesday, Commission spokesman Balazs Ujvari stated: “We possess guidelines originating from the treaty and the code of conduct that commissioners, encompassing former commissioners, must adhere to.”
Should there be an indication suggesting non-compliance with the guidelines, the Commission should contemplate any likely transgressions.
“We will determine whether, considering these newly acquired records, a violation of pertinent rules may have occurred on the part of Peter Mandelson.”
Mandelson himself refrained from commenting on Politico's request. He has previously acknowledged his error in continuing to collaborate with Epstein and extended apologies to Epstein's victims.
