Participatory budgeting, the process allowing citizens to decide how to spend a part of the city budget, is not yet common in Cyprus. However, residents on the island agree that citizen participation is vital when it comes to allocating municipal funds.
To learn more about the Cypriot take on participatory budgeting, EURACTIV travelled to Limassol, in the south of the country. Here, citizens explained what they think about this tool and what inhabitants need to participate in local decision-making actively.
