Ireland currently gives its citizens a say in decision-making processes through participatory tools such as citizens’ assemblies. But what do the Irish people think of citizen participation in their country?

To learn more about the Irish take on citizen participation, EURACTIV travelled to Sligo, a town in the north of Ireland. Here, citizens called for more participation in decision-making processes at the local and national level, and explained what they would ask for if they were given a say.
