Ziff Davis divests network assessment business to Accenture in $1.2B deal

The communications firm Ziff Davis has reached a conclusive agreement to divest its entire connectivity segment, which encompasses approximately a half-dozen global brand names specializing in fixed broadband, mobile, and Wi-Fi infrastructures, along with event tracking systems, to Accenture for $1.2 billion in cash, as declared by the enterprise on Tuesday.

This arrangement involves DownDetector, Ookla, Speedtest, Ekahau, and RootMetrics, alongside all associated holdings. According to Ziff Davis, these brand names yielded $231 million in income during 2025, accounting for 16% of the company's total earnings.

Ziff Davis has possessed trademarks in the connectivity arena ever since acquiring Ookla in 2014. Additional brand names, such as DownDetector, Ekahau, and RootMetrics, were obtained in subsequent years.

During a quarterly earnings briefing, Ziff Davis CEO Vivek Shah recognized that asset sales have not been typical procedure at the company historically, but pointed out that the connectivity sector has provided substantial returns on investment. Shah also underscored that Ziff Davis identifies prospects within its fundamental digital media enterprise.

“We are of the opinion that the challenges within the digital media marketplaces furnish us with multiple openings,” Shah stated. “In much the same way as we fruitfully navigated the shift from analog to digital, we are assured that we possess the personnel, platforms, and know-how to navigate the transition to artificial intelligence.”

Although Ziff Davis and Accenture have already consented to the agreement, finalizing it will require several months. In the interim, Ziff Davis will persist in managing its connectivity ventures as per usual.

After the culmination of the transaction, Ziff Davis intends to employ the earnings for standard corporate initiatives and to finance a proactive capital allocation strategy, considering existing debt commitments.
