OpenAI revealed the establishment of a fresh unit, the OpenAI Deployment Company, backed by an initial investment exceeding $4 billion, to assist enterprises in crafting and deploying artificial intelligence platforms. Concurrently, OpenAI intends to procure Tomoro, an advisory business focused on the deployment of AI solutions for businesses.
Capitalizing on ChatGPT’s widespread success among general users, OpenAI is aggressively reinforcing its footprint in the enterprise space, aiming to secure substantial agreements with organizations and broaden the application of AI within corporate workflows. This novel undertaking is also perceived as an answer to heightened rivalry from Anthropic, whose Claude models are swiftly accumulating recognition among business customers.
As communicated by OpenAI, the innovative division will dispatch groups comprised of engineers and AI deployment experts to companies, where they will collaborate with client personnel to ascertain areas where artificial intelligence can yield maximum financial impact.
The procurement of Tomoro will enable OpenAI to promptly integrate approximately 150 engineers and AI deployment professionals. Tomoro was established in 2023 in collaboration with OpenAI and is already engaged with global brands such as Mattel, Red Bull, Tesco, and Virgin Atlantic.
According to Reuters, OpenAI and Anthropic are also in negotiations to acquire service-oriented businesses that aid companies in assimilating artificial intelligence into their operational activities.
OpenAI detailed that this novel initiative is being structured as a long-term collaboration between OpenAI and 19 investment firms. TPG serves as the principal partner for the venture, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield among the co-founding entities.
