The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, declared that he observes indications of pacification in Ukraine. As he stated, Beijing anticipates the conclusion of a peace accord that would resolve the “fundamental issues of the crisis,” Ukrinform reports.
The diplomat conveyed that Beijing embraces initiatives aimed at resolving the war and is actively collaborating with other parties to achieve a cessation of hostilities.
“Currently, an opportunity for discussions has emerged, and there are careful anticipations for the advent of peace. Although the journey forward remains challenging, China stands ready to proceed in playing a helpful part and hopes for the attainment of a comprehensive, lasting, and obligatory peace treaty to deal with the underlying causes of the conflict and secure enduring peace and stability in Europe,” he mentioned.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Lavrov, expressed that Ukraine desired to alter the state of affairs on the battlefield rather than prepare for talks with the United States concerning “firm agreements to resolve the fundamental issues of the conflict.” As highlighted by the Financial Times, this phrase is employed in Moscow as a substitute for Kyiv's surrender.
As a reminder, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, announced that the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, is his friend and ally. According to Putin, Moscow and Beijing are engaged in collaboration across numerous domains, including the military sector.
