He said this during a meeting with oil and gas industry leaders.
The journalist asked the American president if he would ever give the order to capture Putin, reminding Trump of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's reaction to the US operation in Venezuela – at which point he said: “If you can do that with dictators, then the United States of America knows what to do next.”
In response, Trump said he didn't think it would be necessary, although he added that he was disappointed and wanted to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war more quickly, because so many people were dying.

According to Trump, despite significant assistance to Ukraine, the efforts of European countries have been insufficient, as Moscow does not perceive Europe as a serious threat. The US President emphasized that Putin fears only the United States under his leadership, while European leaders are “backward” and do not have the necessary influence.
Despite assurances of sympathy for the peoples of Russia and China, Trump emphasized the inflexibility of his position on territorial issues.
In particular, he categorically rejected the possibility of any Russian presence near Greenland, stating that the United States, which considers this island to be a sphere of its interests, will not allow the appearance of such neighbors in this strategic region.
