The Prince and Princess of Wales met with London's spiritual leaders, including the first female archbishop

It also came after Dame Sarah took her seat in the House of Lords in her new role as the chief clergyman of the Church of England.

It is noted that Dame Sarah Mullally had already sat in the upper house as Bishop of London before her historic appointment.

The Lords of the Interior reserved 26 seats in the non-elected chamber for senior bishops of the Church of England, including the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.

Also present at the meeting were Dame Sarah, the Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend Stephen Cottrell, and the Bishop of Peterborough, the Most Reverend Debbie Sellin, who was presented in a short ceremony at the House of Lords, where she took the oath of allegiance to the King.

In a statement after the ceremony, Ms. Sarah said she intended to “ bring a compassionate voice to the role of advocate for justice, fairness, and hope .”

The lady added: “I will use my faith, my practical and pastoral experience as a nurse and a priest, to help scrutinize and refine legislation that improves the lives of all those who live and work in our country — of all faiths and no other.”
