British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who advocates close ties with the EU, has found himself at the epicenter of a political storm after the Labour Party's crushing defeat in local elections, where it lost more than 1,460 seats in English councils. According to the Daily Mail, Starmer has already told his inner circle of his intention to resign and announce a timetable for his departure from office, seeking to end his term with dignity amid chaos and internal pressure.

Government circles are divided: some of his colleagues are urging him not to rush and wait for the results of the by-election in Makerfield and new opinion polls, while others are convinced that delaying will only deepen the crisis. Meanwhile, the avalanche of resignations in the party continues – another junior member of the government has resigned, calling on Starmer to step down as leader. Already 41 Labour MPs have publicly called for his resignation.
Against this backdrop, former health minister Wes Streeting announced his intention to run for party leadership, saying that “a proper contest with the best candidates” was needed. He sharply criticized Brexit, calling it a “catastrophic mistake,” and said that Britain’s future was tied to Europe and that the country must one day return to the EU. Streeting also recalled his firm support for Ukraine, which he considers key to the security of all of Europe.
Thus, the Labour Party finds itself facing a new leadership struggle, and Keir Starmer's political career is rapidly approaching its end.

We would like to add that US President Donald Trump previously criticized Prime Minister Keir Starmer for what he believed was insufficient support for the American operation against Iran.
