More than 600 British soldiers from the 16th Airborne Assault Brigade conducted joint maneuvers with units from the 11th Parachute Brigade of France in Brittany. According to the publication, during the training they practiced simulated landing and combat in preparation for a possible deployment to any NATO country. The final stage of the exercises took place on February 24.

The nine-day exercise, known as Exercise Orion, involved around 2,000 British and French troops practicing jumping from aircraft, setting up defensive lines, repelling attacks and setting up ambushes. The exercises were led by the French headquarters at Orléans-Brissi air base near Paris. British Pathfinders, along with French paratroopers, were tasked with destroying conventional air defence systems and marking the area for the main forces to land.

The exercise was also joined by a battalion of the Italian brigade Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore and British paratroopers of the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment. The commander of the French forces, General Renaud Ronde, emphasized that such maneuvers allow to test new control structures, equipment, communication systems and drone integration, which increases the ability to quickly adapt to the conditions of modern combat.
