According to him, the party will hold a national meeting next week, and the congress to elect the leadership has been postponed to June. Gergely Gulyas will become the leader of the Fidesz parliamentary faction.

However, Hungarian investigative journalist Szabolcs Pani claims that Orban is preparing a refuge in the United States in case he faces justice in Hungary. The journalist wrote about this on Facebook.

“Victor Orban announced today that he will not take a seat in parliament, will not accept the mandate – that is, he will not have immunity. He also noted that the Fidesz party leadership elections will be postponed to June. All this coincides with my information on Tuesday, according to which Orban is planning a trip to the United States for the summer, and that the United States could become a refuge for him if the situation in Hungary worsens,” the journalist wrote.
