But the strait will only work if attacks on Iran are stopped, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on his X social media page.

“I declare on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran: if the attacks on Iran are stopped, our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operations,” the message said.

According to him, the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz must be coordinated with the Iranian armed forces. All technical restrictions that may affect the movement of ships will also be taken into account.

According to the Associated Press, the two-week ceasefire plan includes allowing Iran and Oman to charge fees to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran will allegedly use the funds raised for reconstruction. The strait is located in the territorial waters of Oman and Iran. Previously, ships never paid tolls for the passage through the strait.

Recall, US President Donald Trump agreed to halt strikes on Iran for two weeks in order to create conditions for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
