Ukraine has offered the European Union an alternative route for supplying oil to Hungary and Slovakia instead of the Druzhba oil pipeline damaged by the Russian attack. The idea is to use other elements of the oil transportation system, in particular the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline, writes “European Pravda”.

This is stated in a letter from the Mission of Ukraine to the EU dated February 20, 2026, addressed to the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission.
The letter notes that on January 27, 2026, the aggressor state carried out targeted attacks on the facilities of the Ukrainian oil transportation system, as a result of which the technological and auxiliary equipment of the Druzhba oil pipeline was significantly damaged. Ukrainian specialists are currently conducting a detailed technical inspection and assessing the possibilities of promptly resuming transportation.
“At the same time, the Ukrainian side would like to emphasize that the uninterrupted and stable functioning of the oil transportation infrastructure is possible only if the Russian Federation ceases massive missile and drone attacks aimed at destroying Ukraine's energy infrastructure,” the letter states.

As “FACTS” wrote, Hungary previously announced that it would block the allocation of a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine from the EU. This will continue until the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline is restored.
