If “it misbehaves”: Trump threatens Iran with new strikes

While the US and Iran are still exchanging drafts of a framework agreement to end the war, Donald Trump is also seriously considering new military action against Iran to try to break the current stalemate. The president told reporters that he could order such action if Tehran “behaves inappropriately.”

“If they behave badly, if they do something bad — that's entirely possible,” Trump said when asked if he could order new strikes.

Iran recently provided the US with an updated proposal for a 14-point framework agreement, Axios reports.

According to two sources briefed on the proposal, it sets a one-month deadline for negotiations on a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end the U.S. naval blockade and finally end the war in Iran and Lebanon.

According to the Iranian proposal, only after such an agreement is reached will negotiations on the nuclear program begin.

Trump was also briefed by Admiral Brad Cooper on new plans for military strikes against Iran.

Although Trump initially said he was not happy with the Iranian proposal, he later told reporters that he was going to consider it.

“I'm looking into it. I'll let you know later… They told me the concept of the deal. Now they'll give me the exact wording,” he said.

Shortly after, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he “cannot imagine this will be acceptable” and stressed that Iran “has not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the last 47 years.”
