Thus, Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance are at the closest level of interaction in the entire history of relations. This applies to both political dialogue and practical military cooperation.
Some NATO member states already consider Ukraine a future NATO member and support ongoing coordination. The Daily Telegraph calls Russian influence the main factor holding back the accession process.
“The impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO in the near future is just a political construct. Nothing more, nothing less. It can be strengthened indefinitely, but it can be destroyed very quickly,” the publication notes.

According to the authors, this position is based on a number of widespread statements. Among them is the thesis about the alleged promise not to expand NATO to the east, which is not true. Another argument concerns the risk of direct conflict with Russia in the event of Ukraine joining the Alliance.
“Even Henry Kissinger, who long believed that Ukraine should not be invited to NATO, admitted after the start of the full-scale invasion that there were no longer any restrictions on Ukraine’s membership,” writes The Daily Telegraph.
The article also refutes the claim that Ukraine's desire for NATO was the cause of the war. The article emphasizes that Russia's real goals are related to the destruction of Ukrainian statehood.
