The Prime Minister had lengthy discussions about Russia's war against Ukraine, particularly during a meeting with President Xi Jinping.

“Russia is also attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, which is prohibited by international law. No one should support Russia in these actions. Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine poses a threat to the security of Finland and Europe as a whole. I call on China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to work towards achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine,” said Prime Minister Orpo.

He noted that China's support for Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine is the most important problem undermining EU-China relations. Prime Minister Orpo also stressed the importance of this relationship at the global level.
