The US and Israeli armed forces carried out an unprecedented operation by dropping 30 bombs on the residence of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at a time when all of the country's top leadership was there, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing American and Israeli intelligence officials.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
Yes, US and Israeli intelligence had been waiting for months for the moment when Iran's top leadership would gather for a joint meeting in one place. The strike was carried out in the middle of the day, when reconnaissance aircraft confirmed the presence of all targets in the palace complex.
The ayatollah's residence was reduced to ruins after 30 airstrikes hit it. Along with Khamenei, the chief national security adviser Ali Shamkhani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Mohammad Pakpour, and Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh were killed.
The Israeli Air Force used about 200 fighter jets to strike nearly 500 different targets across the country, making it the largest single air campaign in Israeli history.

In parallel with the airstrikes, Israel carried out a massive cyberattack on Iranian information systems. A popular prayer app was hacked, through which IRGC soldiers began receiving calls to desert and messages to the population that “help has arrived.” Hackers also hacked the state news agency IRNA, posting a text on the home page about a “devastating blow to the Ayatollah’s regime.”
As “FACTS” wrote, Russia previously appealed to the US and Israel with a harsh demand to stop the strikes on Iran.
