The Ukrainian delegation departs today for Abu Dhabi, where paired consultations with the United States are slated for February 4-5, in addition to another tripartite assembly in the Ukraine-USA-Russia configuration.

This was communicated by the chief of the Ukrainian discussion team, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, during a broadcast.

As per his statements, the discussions in Abu Dhabi will be divided into two segments. The initial segment involves a one-on-one assembly with the American representatives, featuring US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The focal point will be the endorsement of security assurances and the Prosperity Package (a scheme for Ukraine's post-conflict revitalization).

Subsequently, a three-way meeting will take place, with Russia being “substantially represented,” according to Umerov.

“They will be empowered to deliberate on military-political matters. Following that, we will update President Zelenskyy – both on Wednesday and Thursday,” the NSDC Secretary remarked.

Umerov clarified that the aforementioned welfare or rebuilding package, under consideration with the US, will encompass various components.

“We intend to specify the nature of European support, the specifics of US aid, and the timeline and location for its formalization. Our teams have been engaged for several months, and we are nearing conclusion. We seek to expedite the finalization of this Prosperity Package within days, with a commitment to its signing imminently,” the NSDC Secretary further elaborated.

Energy standstill and territorial concerns

When queried about the potential for discussions on an energy standstill and territorial concerns during the deliberations, Umerov affirmed that “we consistently address matters crucial to our populace.”

Umerov shared the following: “Expect to hear about some outcomes shortly. This initiative has been actively pursued since 2022.”

It is worth noting that on January 24, three-party talks concluded in the UAE, involving delegates from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.

US President Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, conveyed that notable headway was achieved during these discussions.
