The opening day of a fresh set of tripartite dialogues among Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in Abu Dhabi has concluded. The conversations are scheduled to continue Thursday morning according to local time.

This information was shared by Diana Davityan, the spokesperson for Rustem Umerov, who is the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, according to “European Truth”.

“Today’s discussions have ended,” she mentioned, while also stating that the talks are slated to resume on Thursday, February 5.

The Ukrainian representatives in Abu Dhabi include Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, the Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov in addition to his First Deputy Serhiy Kyslytsia, the Leader of the Servant of the People faction Davyd Arakhamia, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov, and the Advisor to the President Oleksandr Bevz.

As stated by Umerov, the Ukrainian group has planned a separate meeting with the American team, which is composed of US President's Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. During this session, they intend to address the document concerning security assurances and the proposed “prosperity plan.”

Composition of delegations during negotiations

“Subsequent to the tripartite meeting in Abu Dhabi, the negotiation process continued today through group work,” Umerov conveyed.

Besides Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the American participants also include Josh Gruenbaum, Daniel Driscoll, and General Alex Hrynkevich.

Umerov noted that the Russian side had a substantial military presence.

“The engagement was significant and fruitful, focusing on concrete actions and viable solutions. We are drafting a report for President Volodymyr Zelensky,” he stated.

Simultaneously, Barak Ravid, a journalist for Axios, posted on X that the Ukrainian group at this two-day series of talks hopes to comprehend the true intentions of the Russians and Americans.

It is important to note that these discussions in the UAE are occurring against the backdrop of recent large-scale attacks by Russia on Ukrainian territory.

Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out that the Ukrainian team’s work at the negotiations is being modified due to recent bombardments, with the aim of defending Ukraine’s interests as effectively as possible.

According to media reports, no agreements were reached during prior sessions in Abu Dhabi, with the US and Russia reportedly putting pressure on Ukraine.
