DUBAI: The UAE National Media Authority has announced the launch of the Bridge Summit to “explore the future of media”.
The summit, which will take place from December 8 to 10 in Abu Dhabi, also aims to “lead transformation in the sector and increase its contribution to the global economy,” according to a press release.
The forum will feature a media exhibition that will attract company executives, government officials, as well as media professionals and experts from around the world.
This was stated by Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council, during an event in Washington.
He said: “We launched Bridge Summit to facilitate constructive dialogue, develop solutions to current and future media challenges and support the sustainable growth of this vital sector.”
Al-Hamed also announced the establishment of the Bridge Foundation, a non-profit organization whose aim is to empower media professionals and develop the media sector through training programs and research grants.
It will also support media startups through funding opportunities and international partnerships.
The launch of the fund is in line with the country's “vision to position media as a powerful engine of development” to foster “a more influential media ecosystem that supports societal values and promotes sustainable development,” Al Hamed said.
