US President Donald Trump stated that a “very forceful reaction” would follow the assault in Syria that resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and a civilian.
AP reports this, citing Trump’s declarations and knowledgeable sources.
The American chief executive held the Islamic State organization accountable for the aggression.
“This constituted an ISIS assault on both the United States and Syria within a particularly hazardous sector of Syria…” Trump posted on his social media platform.
He also informed reporters at the White House that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa was “taken aback by the unfolding events.”
According to Trump, the Syrian government is collaborating closely with the American forces in the struggle against terrorism.
As highlighted by a well-informed AP source, the two deceased service members were part of the Iowa National Guard contingent.
The Department of Defense indicated that the perpetrator was neutralized during a responsive military action.
Syrian authorities conveyed that participants of the Syrian security apparatus also sustained injuries during the strike.
“There will be a very forceful reaction,” Donald Trump reiterated in his declaration on Truth Social.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell conveyed that the deceased civilian was an American interpreter. He specified that the assault was directed at soldiers engaged in continuous counter-terrorism efforts within the area. The specifics of the event are currently under review.
Prior reports indicated that the US military publicized the elimination of a key figure in the Islamic State (ISIS) organization, along with his two offspring, who maintained affiliations with ISIS, within Syria.
Earlier, we reported that the US had eliminated the chief of the Islamic State militant group, Abu Yusuf, also known as Mahmoud, in an offensive on Syria.
