A resonating blast reverberated through Dubai International Airport (UAE), a global hub, on Saturday, March 7th. Travelers awaiting take-off were instructed to deplane.
This is according to information from the Daily Mail.
Owing to an assault by an Iranian unmanned aircraft, all departures were halted and terminals cleared for the first time since hostilities erupted in the Middle East.
This circumstance compelled many voyagers to seek alternate routes out of the UAE.
Emirates, the predominant carrier in the Middle East, communicated the discontinuation of all incoming and outgoing Dubai flights until further notification.
“We advise against proceeding to the airfield at this time!” the carrier stated via X.
Reports regarding detonations in proximity to the airfield surfaced around 8:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. Kyiv time). Police vehicles blockaded all access points, triggering disarray on the roadways.
Subsequent information confirmed that during the Iranian offensives, an aerial countermeasure took place in the airspace above the Dubai airfield.
A conflagration was observed near the locale. Following a significant boom, billowing plumes of smoke ascended into the atmosphere.
Witnesses recounted two separate locations at the airfield where remains from unmanned aerial vehicles landed, generating vast plumes of smoke and particulate matter.
One of these impacted the passenger walkway wall, situated near the terminal; it was fortunate that no individuals sustained harm.
Dubai officials were quick to assert that “no occurrence” had taken place at the airfield, while confirming the successful interception of the drone, clarifying no injuries were sustained.
The airfield has since partially revived its operations.
